When Rosebank distillery closed in 1993, the late whisky guru, Michael James Jackson called it "a grievous loss".

Together with Contagious, Ian MacLeod Distillers had already proven could do with Glengoyne Distillery. So, when our client acquired the Rosebank site in 2017, it was time to reawaken 'The King of the Lowlands'.

The distillery had lain derelict for more than 20 years. Hopes of its revival faded with each passing year, and when copper thieves destroyed the stills in 2008, everyone assumed the end was nigh.

But our client has a nose for these things. They knew, that with the right amount of TLC, they could breathe new life into the old building and the surrounding Falkirk community.

HELLO TOMORROW, NICE TO MEET YOU

Our brief was to respect the original architecture and Rosebank's heritage, but to showcase where the brand is heading. Creating a bridge between yesterday, today and tomorrow.

AS GUSTAV MAHLER SAID,
"TRADITION IS NOT THE WORSHIP OF ASHES,
BUT THE PRESERVATION OF FIRE."
AND WE COULDN'T HAVE PUT IT
BETTER OURSELVES.

Paying homage to the past, while focusing on the future, we created a stunning, contemporary destination. Our masterplan covered the entire guest experience from arrival through production, tasting, and VIP areas culminating in an immersive film over the walls of the old warehouse. The brand sings through the entire experience.

Rosebank Tasting Room

Exposed brick and reclaimed timbers rub shoulders with slick geometric shapes and dramatic lighting. Super-minimal and contemporary, like the building itself, we have seamlessly married the old and the new.

More than a distillery experience, Rosebank is an urban re-generation project, bringing new jobs and tourism back to Falkirk. Interest amongst locals is such, that within 2 days of opening a ballot for free tickets (ahead of the official opening in June 2024), 4,000 Falkirk locals had already signed up.

SO, HERE'S TO FALKIRK'S GLORIOUS PAST AND ITS VERY BRIGHT FUTURE.
